Consolidation
Whew, I’m finally able, after about 5 years, to start pulling together all of my archived files to my laptop. For years, I’ve been storing old files on my archive drive - stuff from my computers at university, various desktop computers I’ve owned, old research files…. I can undoubtedly delete a lot of the stuff for good, but between my pack-rat tendencies and my lack of desire to closely review the files, I would rather just keep them around. If I used a desktop computer, I’d have had no problem to consolidate everything before now. But it’s only been in the past few months or so that laptop hard drives have finally had both the capacity and the affordability to do what I need.
And to think, back in my undergrad days I was the envy of the department for having a workstation with a 3GB hard drive. Today I’m wondering how long my 250GB drive will last me…
